SUniG Game 3

Final Score: SIM 3 - 0 SMU
Scorers: Khairul Ruzaini, Sebas (pen), Marcus
Assists: Marcus 2, Khairil

We played our hearts our to restore the battered pride of SIM Soccer following our disappointing loss to NTU during the previous game. This was without a doubt the best performance from SIM Soccer in this year since our fantastic 4-3 comeback against NUS, coming back from 3-1 down at halftime, earlier this year during IVP. In Gary's words,

" I urged you guys to REMEMBER HARD how you FELT throughout yesterday's match that made you motivated cos in games to come, you will want to remember this game and put yourself in that mental mindset."

We need to go into every game with that similar hunger and mindset, fight every single ball, working our socks off for each other and naturally the result will come. Talent without teamwork, hardwork, determination and spirit is nothing. I believe we will come through. I'm proud to be one of you.

SUniG Game 1

Final score: SIM 3 - 3 NUS
Scorers: Yap, Khairul Ruzaini, Brandon
Assists: Brandon

We got a deserving wake up call from our first game in SUniG against NUS, losing our lead from 3-0 to draw 3-3.

Enough has been said, we are a quality team and we should be fulfilling our potential by winning games.

I believe we can still do it and win SUniG.

We are still very much in the fight. Fight on team SIM.

Schedule till the next game on wednesday:
1) Training on Monday 7pm @ Ulu Pandan

Game day: Wednesday 21 September 2011
SIM vs NTU @ NTU
Kickoff: 7:45pm

SMU vs NTU game has been postponed and will most probably be played on Sunday 18 September 2011 and there is a slight chance that our games might be pushed back.

Last week of August

Hi guys,

It's been a great week in terms of games played and having the squad together for the trainings and matches this week. Although we conceded quite a few silly goals, we can take light from the goals scored and countless opportunities created. We can only go up from here, improve defensively, keep playing good attacking football and gel together as a unit.

Here are the results from this weeks two friendly matches.

1) SIM vs Combined Schools U17 @ ITE Simei
Final Score : 5 - 2

Scorers: Reyro, Vinnie, Yap, Brandon, Reza
Assists: Sebas 2, Brandon 1, Nicholas 1, J.Ang 1

2) SIM vs Singapore Cricket Club
Final Score : 2 - 3

Scorers: Khairul 2
Assists: Marcus 2

The upcoming plan for this week is that we will train on Wednesday 7pm Ulu Pandan, then have two back to back friendly games.

1) Wednesday 24 August 2011 Training @ Ulu Pandan, 7pm

2) Sunday 28 August 2011 Friendly vs NFA U-18 @ Yishun Stadium 730pm Kick-Off

3) Monday 29 August 2011 Friendly vs Combined School @ Gombak Stadium 730pm Kick-Off

For those of you unable to make training, please do your own running so as to prepare yourself physically.

August week 3

Hi guys,

We are having a busy schedule this coming week.

1) Monday & Wednesday
- Trainings 7pm

2)Thursday
Friendly vs NFA U-18 7:30pm @ ITE Simei
- Be there by 6:45pm

3)Sunday
Friendly vs Singapore Cricket Club 3:00pm @ Dempsey Field
- Be there by 2:15pm

Players who have difficulty coming on time for friendly games, please inform me before hand.
For both friendlies, wear YELLOW top, BLACK shorts and socks.

I would like to emphasise to all players to show the utmost commitment towards training and matches if you really have a desire to play for SIM Soccer. This is no kuching-kurap team that you join to play as and when you want. Competition is high and no places are guaranteed. We need to train and play together as often as possible so that we can gel in time before SUniG. Other schools have much more preparation than team SIM but I KNOW, that this year we have the squad to match, if not better, any other tertiary team.

Cheers

August week 2

Jollilads 2011 - WUG

Hi guys, the NFL season is gonna start this season again and Jollilads Arsenal, the combined uni team, will be looking to participate in the NFL Div 2 from 3rd April onwards.

Missing out on promotion to NFL1 by 4 pts, the team performed beyond expectations last year and we came in 3rd. It is also beneficial for the team if the application to participate in the World Universities Game is accepted and this competition will build d foundation for the team.

The training and trials will be held every Wednesday, 7.30pm at NUS and every Saturday, 3pm at NTU.

Interested players please inform Wee Yang or Darren. Non school team members are also encouraged to join.

IVP 2010/2011

Well, the curtains were drawn and set on this year's IVP. A very sad piece of fact remained that for 2 years in the running, none of the 4 local unis broke into d semis and left d competition in d preliminary rounds.

Let's talk about what's happening in the local uni soccer scene. Are we getting too complacent after NUS won the IVP in 2008 or are we a bunch of has-beens or a bunch of undiscovered talent pool waiting for our chance to shine at the bigger stage? I would choose the latter.

This year, SIM performed the best amongst the universities and rightfully, this will set our direction straight and without a doubt, to clinch the SUNig title this year from NTU. An overhaul of the committee will take place and you will most likely, yes I will bring down the speculations, you will DEFINITELY see new faces taking up roles in this club.

Coach was an utterly disappointed man in this campaign, having led this team with the highest optimism but only to fail at the last hurdle. Its ok lads, to me, I see this as a motivation and I'm sure, this year, will be a better year.

Our team this year that competed in IVP 2011 has been playing together for at least 2 seasons, or I should say, the core players. The new blood came into the system and with much admiration, they blended in well.

Lets keep this team balance up and maintain the healthy team spirit, be it beer, club, bloodshed on the pitch, joy, laughter or sorrow, we will prevail and overcome all, in the name of

Post Game Report

SIM 2-3 ITE

Well guys, end of the day i supposed the result didnt turn against our favor but i would say that d effort and guts shown throughout this knockout stage is nothing short of impressive.

To come down from 3-0 and qualification chances looking bleak, our fighting spirit shown once again. 2 quick goals, coupled by a silly(standardddddd) send off by one of d ITE players looked set to open up the game for us but in due honesty, t play against a side like ITE, littered with their only experience in life which is soccer, a comeback looked unlikely.

Would like to do a cheik tiote but with dubious refereeing which was shown once again, wrong offside calls and horrifying calls, the game ended 3-2.

Was a great game guys, like how we have predicted d whole tournament t b, being d underdogs and supposedly gonna lose t ITE, i think 7 pts fr 4 games plus a +2 goal difference is remarkable. We are still in d bracket t qualify and this thurs will decide our fate, may lady luck shine on us.

Lets pray and hope tt ITE can do us a favor or RP t self destruct by a 2 goal deficit or more, that will send us sailing into d semis, preserving our SIM and universities' pride.

This thurs guys, lets head down to ITE Simei and watch the game. RP will b feeling d heat without their YL players and of course, hopefully d results will swing in our favor.

Great job, im v v v proud of you guys.

Game of our life

Like d title on this post, tdy is d biggest game tt SIM SOCCER is ever gna play in their IVP history. We used t make up d numbers in IVP, we used t b d team tt opponents will try out their unused players or t notch higher goal difference against BUT now, times have changed, so is our team.

Now, not only we have improved and playing finally as a team, we have opponent coaches waxing lyrical over our quality we possessed in d team and our never say die attitude.

Remember our game against NUS? pure class. superb commitment, hunger and attitude from everybody, even t d fans n our coach.

Lets jst do this one more time guys, lets play it ALL out against ITE, we get a result tt we need and it would b a beautiful week for us. We are not jst playing for ourselves here, but we are playing for SIM and the pride of university soccer where the rest have failed. Its our era now, its our time t set the example t our next, next next or d future generation of uni soccer. forget NUS of '08 when they won d IVP against ITE, now its d class of '11, SIM Soccer Club.

Friendly: NFA u-17 vs SIM

A fairly evenly contested first half tt ended 0-0 soon turned into a 4-0 whitewash by the kid cudis of the NFA u-17, all barely legal t enter zouk but with their meagre 50$ pay/mth(WTF!), it shld b well enough for them t stay happy until 18 beckons.

Well, the pitch was great and d weather was second t none, we were all well soaked n d passing was fluid and nice. big pitch tt allowed us t hone our ulu pandan passing and well, it was a good run out lads.

Now lets focus on our IVP. last game, which like what coach Marko predicted, it would b d 2nd most vital yet d crunchiest game for SIM in our history. A win wld secure us firmly on top of the group and qualify spectacularly, a draw might jst b sufficient whereas a loss wld see our fate swinging in d direction of ITE vs RP.

Guys, enough talk of having our fate decided on teams like RP and ITE. its time t take things into our hands. bag a win, play like we nv ever before and if we get d win and qualify, i will ask the gaffer t bring us t d famous Sahara t whack a couple of pints, on his tab of course :D

Lets get everyone started by TRAINING TOMORROW, MONDAY @ 7PM.
Following by, TEAM COHESION TO WATCH ITE V NUS @ NUS @ 7.30PM. Attendance not compulsory but wld b nice t bond around, following tt would b our standarddddddd shisha!

SIM vs NFA U17

Hi guys,

Please take note of the upcoming friendly before CNY

1. NFA u17 vs SIM
Jalan Besar Std, 7pm KO
Please reach by 5.30pm and portray ourselves as professional as possible as SIM Soccer club.

We will be warming up in Yellow and playing in Grey.

Lets keep our unbeaten streak going.
Remember this, the future of SG football is over, the future is SIM.

Ciaos.

ITE vs SIM

As you guys knw the group is so tight that it may jst come down to goal difference at the end of the day.

We used to fear our opponents, we used to approach the game thinking of how to reduce the deficit of the loss, we used to go into the game feeling inferior BUT, not now guys.

We have character, we have the determination, we have the teamwork, we have the spirit and most importantly, we have the will to perform at the highest level where we can hold our heads up high, TOGETHER.

Guys, I jst cant say anymore about how proud I am of you lads in this IVP so far, even in training though we have fun n joke around but I can tell we put in 101% when it comes to doing it well.

Yes it's definitely gonna be tough that d game will be the following monday after CNY but the ball is round guys, I can even imagine us winning ITE and topping the table.

Never give up, dream.

El Classico!

Game 3: NUS vs SIM
Post Game Report

I've always maintained d fact tt NUS is a side worthy of d highest respect n packs a bag of surprises. They really lived up t my expectations and great fighting spirit saw them picked themselves up from an early Patrick(who else?) goal to lead 3-1 by the 35th min mark.

To b honest the goals were really soft, 1st goal conceded being a sway xin(unlucky god) goal, 2nd being Anand's belated Thaipusam goal which saw him wringling past all of defenders before slotting d ball into d net n save d best for d last where we saw weeyang finally unleashing his silent hatred for the NUS 1st goalscorer by slamming his ferocious drop kick into his back n unfortunately it bounced back for a silent goal.

What happened next is more exciting, epic and exhilarating than Liverpool's greatest fightback to win their Champions League trophy. From a 3-1 deficit, a possessed SIM side whose hunger would have made cows an extinct species started d rout w 2 goals in 8 mins from d 2nd half kick off. 2nd goal for Paran(its still Patrick anyways) and a sweet lovely left leg volley by Marcus made d score balanced up once more.

Now its all a one channeled effect in d game. NUS literally switched off and SIM unleashed their 105mm artillery, all out blazing against their hapless opponents. Waves aft waves of attacks saw unproven results in some wasteful finishing by Darren n Aloy but its up to our, one and only, red beret commando officer, to douse d fire and put d icing on d cake. A fantastic clearance by the NUS keeper fell to Xabi, oops i mean Jason Ang 40metres away and there, he unleashed a fabulous lob equal if not better than tt half line goal tt Beckham scored tt catapulted him to stardom. 4-3. Lovely.

Tremendous determination, hunger, spirit, character and the list would just go on and on guys. I can only think the only barriers to stop us from going all the way are internal fear and complacency. We have come this far, live the dream guys. Remember its just not for us now, its for our school, for our hard work, our commitment, our team spirit, the university soccer and to show the soccer community in Singapore that, soccer prowess is not longer mat-infested and it can also belong to those with brains.

Keep it up lads and if this year is 2010, I would say, no ITE pls but now, BRING ON ITE.

Love you guys,
Darren

IVP Match 3: SIM - NUS

Hi guys,

Hope this week has been good for you so far. Anyway, tomorrow is our crunch match against NUS. Why do I say its our crunch match? There can be many reasons for this but I would only list out the important ones.
1. NUS has beaten us once in this 2010/2011 season in the SUnig games. Lets not let them achieve a double over us guys.
2. We are currently 2nd in our group and losing out on pole position only on goal difference.
3. As much as it seems, RP and us are in a lock-headed situation. As much as we think we need to keep pace with them, they also have to keep pace with us. Lets get the 7 pts tmr and let RP do the catching up.
4. If we win tmr which i think we are capable of, it will put us in the driving seat. Why? Cos RP would have 4 pts and ITE, only playing their first game tmr, will have to play catch ups to SIM and RP.
5. This is the year we have garner, gathered and grown as a team in a whole. We may not have the best players and only have has-beens, but our team spirit is second to none.
6. Many of our players felt aggrieved at the fact that they have been snubbed for the AUG team, let this game be the testament and show the coach that it is his mistake for not taking you on board!

Well enough said guys, to get the win tmr or not, its all within ourselves. I havent been playing to my best level yet but i promise myself and you guys that i will hit the summit tmr. i hope you guys can have the same determination as me and gun down these 3 pts and let no regrets take over our impressive tournament so far. Semi's seems real now but to me, the championship is the GOAL.

Howay the lads!

Unavailable jersey number is number 3(aloy), so no. 16(Jason Ang) will be helping out group jersey 1-5 for the rest of the tournament.

As you can see, jersey number 17-22 will only be in charge of training(cos' they only have 3 men); therefore their job scope includes:
1. Washing of bibs used in training
2. Accounting for all the balls and equipments used in training
3. Make sure and delegate the team to put back the goal post.

All logistical support on match day includes bringing of:
1. Markers
2. 3-4 Balls for every game
3. Washing of bibs(washer will bring bibs for the next grp in the next game or trng)
4. Water supply from Gary's office
5. Settle among yourself how your group is gonna bring the equipments over

you guys got 5 players in each group(except 17-22 which has only 3), so please delegate and help out in everything you can. Group leader will account for all things to be done and brought to avoid any unwanted situations. All of us are old enough and have been through Army, all these responsibilities are nothing massive. The committee does not owe anything to any player in this club.

These are the following group leader:
Jersey number 1-5: Zifu
Jersey number 6-10: Sebastian
Jersey number 11-15: Wei Siang
Jersey number 17-22: Khai

Yes please do not think your eyes are getting blurry here, you are ARROWED to be the leader because I know you can do it(esp. Sebas and Wei Siang which Im very sure you 2 are gonna come complaining to me)

FYI.
All players are to attend training from now on until end of our competition, those unavailable to attend pls inform Darren or Aloy or Sebas with an acceptable explanation. People like Vincent and Aloy are automatically excused due to club training and suspension(oops).

Lets all be professional and treat your commitment to the club and this IVP competition seriously, trust me lads, we have the credentials and ability to go far in this tournament this year.

Please follow up the blog for any updates as sms is pretty expensive and tedious. Thanks.

Its now or never guys, lets make IVP 2011 our year.

IVP 2010/2011

Well done guys, its always nice to start the tournament with a win, 3 pts on the table but lets not slip up and do another SUnig. Complacency is the only thing that will trouble us now and lets play with 100% or more in our next few games. Team spirit is what we have this season and trust me, its an important element to carry us far.
