SIM University Men Soccer Training Officially Begins!


Today SIM University Men Soccer team will starts their first training with Coach Dilwant Singh at Singapore Khalsa Association (Below for more detail about the place). Last week, SIM Soccer Club contact two days trials for new and existing students who are interested in joining the club for this upcoming University Games (SUniG) 2013. About 80+ players turned up for the trials and 30+ got short-listed. Now these short-listed players have to battle it out with last year SIM Soccer team members. Club players will join at the later stage due to their training and matches with their clubs.

"This year response is madness, I didn't expect so many people joining us for the trials. Nevertheless, I am happy about it as there will be more players battle it out for their spot in the team. Really remind me of this season FirstXI which I am also battle it out for my spot in the final 11." - Melvin Tan (President of SIM Soccer Club).

"Really good. Now everyone in the team will fight for their spot for this upcoming tournament. I won't be surprise if any of the former SIM team members never get into the team. These people coming for trials are really good and we have very young talented foreign players too. Let's see how they will perform in training, I really looking forward to fight hard for my place in the team." - Kiat (Vice-President of SIM Soccer Club).

Today onward, SIM University Soccer team will have their training on every Tuesday and Thursday at Singapore Khalsa Association, 7pm. Coach Dilwant Singh will see how each player perform during training and friendly matches before deciding who to kick out of the team. 

"My training are not easy, is a HELL! No joke, I am serious about winning and I always want the best out of the team. Whoever cannot stand my training or my style of coaching, will have to leave. SIM University Soccer Club appoint Dilwant Singh as new head coach



SIM University have confirmed they have appointed Dilwant Singh as the club's new head coach on an one year deal.

After a shock departure of Singapore legend, R. Suriamurthy, there is a number of names, including Richard Chew (SAFSA head coach), Richard Bok (Ex-Warriors FC head coach),  Marko Kraljevic (Former SIM head coach), had since been linked with the vacant post, but the National Football Academy (NFA) Under-17 assistant coach emerged the stand-out candidate after he was given a vocal backing from SIM University Sports Management.

Dilwant Singh, 48, has never coached an university team before, but had a lot of coaching experience in club level. He was a head coach for Sengkang Marine FC (now, Hougang United FC) Prime League team for 4 years before moving on to the Sengkang Marine FC S-League team as an assistant coach for 2 years.

Now, he is working with the NFA U-17 team and is looking forward to lead SIM University team to glory.

'Mad Tiger' Patrick Paran, from Balestier Khalsa FC, is back!



SIM Soccer Club would welcome back Patrick Paran from Balestier Khalsa FC and believes he can make a big impact again for SIM University. Patrick is not a stranger in this team as he has been the vice-president of the team in 2011. His dream started in SIM when Coach Marko (Coach of SIM in 2009) spotted him from trial and recommend him to Tanjong Pagar United FC. The rest will be history as he climb his way up and made his international cap for Singapore team. Now he has moved to Balestier Khalsa FC and is playing a big part in the team scoring a few goals in the S-League.

''Patrick is dangerous in the box and his speed is crazy, mad fast I should say. Glad that he is back with us as I believe he will be our goal machine this season.'' - Melvin (President of SIM Men's team).

"Last year we did badly in both University Games and IVP because Patrick is not with us and our top scorer, Sebastian Seah, is having some injuries. This year, I am glad that he is back with us and hopefully he will stays fit and strong throughout this season.'' - Kiat (Vice-President of SIM Men's team).

Now, Patrick is still taking his Bachelor Degree in SIM University.

SIM University CCA Fair 2013


SIM University CCA Fair 2013 kick off yesterday (22 July 2013) and there was a large group of students walking around the Atrium choosing the club which they think they can perform well in. Yesterday the SIM Soccer team had their area set-up at the corner of the Atrium, near to the lift. Melvin (President of Men's Soccer Club) and Kiat (Vice-President of Men's Soccer Club) are glad to see so many students come and sign up with the club.

"I am glad to see some familiar faces in this CCA Fair and I believe among all these passionate students, there are a number of potential players who can help us in winning this year university games. Can't wait for this upcoming Thursday and Friday trials, I think current SIM players will have to fight for their spot in the team." Kiat told the club website (http://simsoccerclub.blogspot.sg). 

"Yes, I agreed with Kiat, this year new players are strong and I really hope they are good when they play in the field and most importantly they are able to play with the team. SIM Soccer team is challenging as everyone in the team love to fight with each other for the position which they want to play in. Good luck to all the players who are coming for the trials." Men's soccer club had collected about 50++ students signing up for this upcoming Thursday and Friday trials and there are also a number of female students sign up for the women's team which they will contact their first training session on this coming Wednesday at Yo:HA@Ulu Pandan, SIM Global Education Campus.

For those who are interested in joining our SIM soccer club and yet to sign up, please do it as soon as possible!!! Tomorrow will be the last day to sign-up! We are looking forward to see more passionate footballers joining us and work hard toward winning the championship!

Warriors FC 'Rock Solid' Midfielder, Zulfadi Zainal, set to be part of the SIM Men's team




Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) pleased to have Warriors FC 'rock solid' midfielder, Zulfadi Zainal Abidin, to be part of the team for this upcoming season. Last season, Zulfadi was unable to be part of the team due to his injuries and SIM is glad that he is back this season. Zulfadi was part of coach V. Sundramoorthy National Football Academy (NFA) youth team which won a number of historic youth championship. After that he moved on to a number of big name clubs like Tampines Rovers FC, Home United FC and Young Lions.

Currently, Zulfadi is taking his Bachelor Degree from RMIT University.

Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) Soccer Club will be recruiting passionate players for this upcoming new season. This year, SIM will be competing in the Singapore University Games (SUniG) in September 2013 and Inter-Vasity Polytechnic (IVP) in January/Feburary 2014.

Trial List Eligibility: Singapore males and foreign males who are registered as a student with SIM.

3. Do not bring any valuable items if possible. No lockers are provided.

'Robot' Fabian Kwok will miss this year Singapore University Games (SUniG)



SIM Soccer team midfield maestro, Fabian Kwok, is out for the rest of the S-League season and also this year Singapore University Games (SUniG) with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

Fabian Kwok is a Singaporean footballer who plays for Geylang International FC (GIFC) in the S-League. Fabian has played most of the S-League matches for GIFC and was singled out as one of the most exciting players to watch in this 2013 Great Eastern-Yeo's S-League season.

SIM Soccer is sad to hear this unfortunate incident and wish Fabian has a speedy recovery.

Geylang International FC High-Speed Winger, Yasir Hanapi, agreed to join SIM football team.



SIM football team is glad to announce the arrival of Yasir Hanapi from Geylang International FC S-League team. Yasir Hanapi is a Singapore international football player who used to play for Singapore LionsXII. He was part of the Singapore Under 23 team that took part in 2007 Southeast Asian Games (SEA) in Korat, Thailand that won a Bronze medal. He is also part of the SEA team which repeated their Bronze Medal success in Vientiane, Laos in 2009. Yasir was originally played as right-back, but was converted to a right winger when he played for Singapore LionsXII.

Yasir Hanapi will be taking his Bachelor Degree with SIM University in this coming new semester.
